“Honoring the past, building our future.”
EATONVILLE, FL - 10/22/2025 — Fifth-generation Eatonville native Ruthi Critton announced her candidacy for Mayor of the Historic Town of Eatonville today. Rooted in a family legacy that traces back to town founder Joe Clark, Critton pledges a forward-looking, community-first agenda guided by the campaign theme: “Honoring the past, building our future.”
“As a daughter of Eatonville, raised in our churches, schools, and youth programs, I carry our history in my bones and our future on my heart,” said Critton. “I will protect what makes Eatonville singular in American history while delivering the day-to-day results families need—safe streets, strong local businesses, and opportunities for every child.”
Critton grew up participating in programs such as EKO, AGAPE, and Career Choices, and worshiped at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where her father served as an associate minister. “My story is Eatonville’s story—faith, family, service, and grit,” Critton added. “Together we will write the next chapter, with decisions made in the open and progress everyone can feel.”
The campaign will host community listening sessions across all quadrants of town in the coming weeks. Details will be announced on the campaign’s official channels.
